o He received fairly good comments.
* Week 6: “Every Breath You Take” by The Police (Bottom 3)
o He received fairly good comments, with Simon stating that he thought it was quite good for him.
* Week 7: “Night and Day” by Fred Astaire (Bottom 3)
o He received mixed reviews, with Paula praising his vocal ability, and all three judges questioning his apparent “detachment” from the song and lack of emotional impact.
* Week 8: “Maria Maria” by Santana & The Product G&B (Bottom 2)
o He received mixed reviews, as Paula enjoyed his take, and Simon criticising the fact that his voice cracked a number of times during the performance and that Phil had no emotion in his take.
* Week ‘9′: “Where The Blacktop Ends” by Keith Urban
o He received good comments, Simon jokingly stating, that it took Phil “10 weeks” to show a personality and genre to which he was suited. Phil was pleased, and stated that he was glad to hear this because he wanted to go into country music.

Phil Stacey’s Personal Life
April 19th, 2007Stacey was born in Harlan County, Kentucky.[1] His mother, Adrell Horn, was born in Madison County, Kentucky and works as a nurse in Smyrna, Tennessee.[2] His father, Gary Stacey, is a Church of God minister who pastors a church. Stacey’s maternal grandfather, Carlie Horn, was also a Church of God pastor. Stacey grew up in Fairfield, Ohio and began singing in church.
He serves as a member of the band in the United States Navy.
Phil graduated from Northwest High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1997. He attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts as well as Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. He holds a degree in vocal performance from Lee, where he was a member of the exclusive choir, Lee Singers, and its even more exclusive touring group, Second Edition. In addition to his vocal prowess, he is memorable for missing the birth of his daughter, McKayla, to audition for Idol. He also has one other daughter, Chloe. He currently is a distance learning student at Liberty University. WXKB in Fort Myers has recently started playing his version of Every Breath You Take. On April 11th, 2007 American Idol episode Stacey escaped elimination after being voted in the bottom three. Stacey has been in the bottom three 4 times and also for the last 3 consecutive weeks, almost tying the record with Season One performer Nikki McKibbin and Season Four performer Anthony Fedorov.
